Shashi Mehrotra, CFA is an Executive Vice President and the Chief Investment Officer of Legend Advisory Corporation. He is a pioneer in the application of artificial intelligence in the field of investment management and is the chief architect of Legend’s Asset Allocation Neural Network (AANN). AANN is a sophisticated computer model that uses mathematical algorithms to forecast the relative strengths of different asset classes. He spent over a decade on the research, development, testing and implementation of AANN, overseeing the spending of more than $10 million in capital to create AANN's state-of-the-art operating system.

To develop AANN, Mr. Mehrotra fine-tuned an enormous collection of data ranging from a wide variety of financial market indices and data acquisition, to regression analysis, algorithms and other advanced mathematical interpolations, to pattern recognition among the many deciding factors that went into AANN's "brain." He continues to oversee AANN and its learning behavior as it works to predict movements in world financial markets. He also performs periodic re-engineering of AANN in anticipation of global and technological developments.

Mr. Mehrotra has over 15 years of experience in the financial services industry. Before joining The Legend Group in 1995, he was an engineer and data specialist on a joint project between Florida Atlantic University and the U.S. Navy for two years. The project involved transmitting high frequency waves to undersea objects and determining the composition of those objects based on the acoustic intensity of the reflected waves. The research was intended for undersea intelligence and submarine maneuvers. During that time, he also acted as a consultant to the business community. Previously, he worked as an engineer in signaling and telecommunications.

Mr. Mehrotra was also an Adjunct Professor at Florida Atlantic University for over a decade, where he taught classes on economics, statistics, business calculus, quantitative business, managerial accounting, investment banking, mechanical engineering and side-scan sonar labs.

Mr. Mehrotra received a Master of Business Administration from Florida Atlantic University in 1994. He received a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Osmania, Hyderabad, India in 1989. Mr. Mehrotra holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the CFA Institute and the South Florida Financial Analyst Society. He actively participates as a member of the Investment Management Committee of GenSpring Family Offices, LLC, an affiliate of SunTrust Banks, Inc.
